Capo Capoeira was started and is operated by 3 of Mestre Mangueira’s loyal students, Brahma, Ceci and Laura. With Mestre Mangueira, we have built Capo Capoeira and hope to continue growing and spreading capoeira all across South Florida. Almost every class is presided over by Mestre Mangueira. Skill, knowledge, and passion pass directly to our students through his direct training. In addition to Mestre Mangueira, we have C. Mestre Maluco,  who has known and trained with Mestre for  over 20 years, Instructor Amanda, who has also trained with Mestre Mangueira since she was 8 years old and Professor Jeff, who has trained with Mestre since he was 13 years old.

Capo Capoeira’s programs are designed to be as flexible and affordable as possible. With no hidden fees, no monthly testing fees, and no binding contracts. Our financial policies and membership plans are put in place to be fair to all our students, and are meant to put the students in complete control of their capoeira costs. Please do not ask for exceptions to any of these policies. Such puts all parties in an unfair and uncomfortable position.

YEARLY PROGRAM AGREEMENT

Our YEARLY agreement runs September to September. Any start of this agreement after September will be limited to the remaining months in the 12-month period.

REGISTRATION: Registration is required every year to be a student of Capo Capoeira on or after September. Registration fees are as follow:
NEW STUDENTS: $125.00 - (includes a white uniform shirt, $15 +tax, and white uniform pants, $45 plus tax).
RETURNING STUDENTS: $50. Returning students were students of Capo Capoeira in the past. Those students with a Class Pass that have NOT trained in the last 6 months will be considered “returning students”.
CURRENT STUDENTS: $25. A student is considered “current” if that student has an active membership in August and is continuing their training. Those students with a Class Pass that have trained in the last 6 months will be considered “current” students.

TUITION: Payments are based on a yearly tuition that has been broken down into monthly payments. Some months will have 5 weeks of classes instead of 4 which will make up for when the school is closed. *Capo Capoeira closes 1 week for winter break, 1 week for spring break and 1 week for summer break.

AUTOPAY: Auto-payment is required on the Yearly Program membership. Payments can be set up with a VISA, MASTERCARD (credit or debit card), or ACH bank withdrawal. Students must notify Capo Capoeira in the event they need to cancel their membership in order to stop auto-payments for the following month and it must be done by the 25th of the prior month. If student does not notify Capo Capoeira of their intent to cancel by the 25th of the prior month,  auto-payments can no longer be stopped. Capo Capoeira will not issue refunds if a student fails to stop auto-payments upon canceling your account. Auto-payments may be applied to future use, but must be used within 1 (one) year of the original charge or it will be forfeited.  If auto-payment declines (ex. stolen credit card, expired credit cards or insufficient funds), please go to the Zen App, Student log-in on the website, or calling the school. You will have 3 business days to reconcile your payment account prior to Capo Capoeira charging the account a $10 failed payment/ late fee, which will need to be paid when new payment is arranged. Please notify the front desk immediately if the credit card on file has been misplaced, stolen or expired. As a student, you will get an automatic email if your payment declines, however, it is your responsibility to make sure your payment went through.

CANCELLATION OF MEMBERSHIP: Memberships may be canceled at any time. However, membership will not end until the following billing date. Any unused classes or time will not be prorated or refunded. If a student fails to attend classes that are paid for, it does not release the student from this agreement. In addition, Capo Capoeira reserves the right to cancel a membership for any reason.
To cancel your membership, notification must be received by the 25th of the prior month to stop auto-payments.  By canceling your membership, you are no longer a student at Capo Capoeira but can return to the school at any time to begin training again. If you decide to begin your training again, a re-registration fee may apply and you will no longer be eligible for the Yearly Program plan for the remainder of the Capo Capoeira school year which runs from September to September.

FREEZING MEMBERSHIP: Students have the option to freeze their monthly agreement at any time. Students may freeze their membership for a minimum of 1(one) month and a maximum of 3 months for a fee of $30.00 per month, payable in advance. By freezing your membership, you do not extend your membership agreement, but instead replace your monthly payment with a $30 fee that retains your student status and ensures your pricing when you return to training. In the event you no longer want to continue your training, you can cancel your membership at any time with no financial penalty. Classes missed before freezing membership cannot be made up while membership is frozen.

UPGRADE/DOWNGRADE OF MEMBERSHIP: Students have the option of upgrading or downgrading a membership at any time during the year. Capo Capoeira will allow an upgrade or downgrade of membership at no cost, the first time their membership is upgraded or downgraded during the current registration year. If a student chooses to upgrade/downgrade their membership more than once, their account will be charged a $20 per upgrade/downgrade.

ATTENDANCE: Upon registration, students are participating in a MEMBERSHIP. There are no refunds or prorated funds if a student fails to attend the classes that the academy has available. Students are in charge of any classes missed and Capo Capoeira offers a class make-up policy. Students have until the end of the following month to make up the missed classes for the current month. All monthly attendance will be applied to current membership attendance requirements FIRST before make-up classes can be used. If a student does not use their make-up classes by the end of the following month in addition to their current membership, those missed classes will be forfeited. Class make-up policy only applies to students on an active/current membership. If student cancels or drops membership, any missed classes will be forfeited.

UNIFORM: All students are required to be in a Capo Capoeira uniform while training at our school. Capoeira clothes that are purchased outside of the school are not allowed. Your uniform is a symbol of purpose, that you come to the school to train and you are part of a group that also is committed to that purpose. Wearing the uniform also shows respect to the instructor and supports your school.

BAND APP: All students are responsible for checking BAND for announcements and important information. We have tried emails and texting in the past, and this has been shown to be our best way of communicating to our students.

ZEN APP: We use this app for all students personal records.  All students are responsible for being logged into Zen either on their phones, or on the student log in, to reserve classes, check attendance, update payment methods, check bills.

CLASS CANCELLATION, HOLIDAYS, AND VACATIONS: Closure of the school for reasons decided by the owners is a normal part of the membership. Mestre Mangueira teaches almost all of the classes at Capo Capoeira, and due to unforeseen circumstances it is sometimes necessary to cancel classes. In the event that Mestre Mangueira is sick, out of town, or has an urgent matter and cannot teach class, he will appoint someone of his choice (mestre, professor/a, instructor/a or student) to conduct his class. In the rare event that Mestre is not able to find a person to cover due to unavailability, the school will need to close. Students will be able to make up their classes in such event. Capo Capoeira will close on some holidays and holiday weekends. A list of holidays will be posted on the website and updated each month. This list is tentative and subject to change at Mestre Mangueira’s discretion.

SCHOOL CLOSURE: If we are forced to close due to unforeseen circumstances including, but not limited to weather emergencies, natural disasters, threats, and global health emergencies for more than 1 week (5 consecutive school days), you will receive an account credit (not cash refund) and additional payments will be suspended.
